FEATURE ARTICLE

Acacia is taking its tech support to a new level!

Acacia Consulting Services will soon be launching a new Support Ticketing System! This will allow you to submit support issues directly via the Acacia website.  We are currently testing the system internally and will shortly be looking for a number of pilots clients to help with testing and evaluating this new system.

Once testing is complete you will be sent a user name and password with full instructions on how to use this exciting new system.

You will be able to electronically lodge a support ticket which allows you to track the progress of your ticket and confirm who is dealing with your issue at a single glance.  Furthermore there is functionality to send required file attachments when submitting or updating a ticket, ensuring all information can be found in the one location.

MODULE OF THE MONTH

The Module of the Month for August is the Maze VET Module.

The Maze VET component is the most flexible and easy to use package in its class. The VET component allows users to import essential VET information such as qualifications, units of competency and industry areas, and to identify which qualifications and/or units they wish to offer in a given academic year. Any student in the Maze database can then be enrolled into appropriate qualifications and units. Recording of VET results may be done individually by student or in bulk by simultaneously entering results for all students undertaking a selected competency.

This powerful package will help any school manage their VET tasks and requirements with ease, so if you are interested, please send Alison an This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call on 9836 6555 Option 4.

TIP OF THE Month

Getting the Most from your Maze Support

Prior to the Application Layer Update Utility (ALUU), updates to the application layer could only be applied manually by users with expert knowledge of Maze systems. The advent of the ALUU means that you should never have to apply updates manually again and even novice users can apply some updates. Benefits include:

  • A standardised approach to apply application layer updates.
  • Ability to apply standard and custom updates.
  • Reduced potential for errors in applying changes.
  • Facility to clean up and restore data that has been caused by errors.
  • Migration or rollback of previously applied workarounds.
  • Easy to use for both novice and advanced users.
  • Stricter quality control enforced in the creation of configuration files.
  • Traceability of changes for users

For ease of installation, Acacia will regularly send out patches and updates for Maze that need to be deployed via the ALUU, so it is important that you have IT personnel that know how to use it correctly

It is important to note that different versions of Maze need to have a particular version of the ALUU installed, or it may not work correctly.

If you have any questions regarding the ALUU in Maze, please contact the Maze Helpdesk.  Training can also be arranged on request.
